About

The Foundry has been here for 300 years and has been in the Lambert Family for 25 years. John & Steve bought the business from their parents in 1998, when the name was changed to Bridport Foundry from JI Blackburn & Co. In 2017 John and his wife Caroline bought the business off Steve which they now run together.

This heralded a new era of investment, with sand reclamation plant, articulated sand mixers for the use of airset moulding processes primarily furaine for the bulk of our production work. We have various other sand processes e.g. pepsets, cold box, with the facility to blow cores and small boxless moulds. We also have a shell moulding process for intricate and high quality surface finish castings such as cylinder blocks.

Investment into furnace equipment with purchases of a 500 kilo inductatherm VIP unit for iron alloys with change over switches for our copper pop ups. A 350 tailor made furnace. 500 kilo morganite resistance baleout furnace for aluminium alloys.

This together with additional mould handlings, shot blasting, sand blasting and fettling means the last 5 years has put us in good stead in the foundry and castings market.
